Paint it black

Nigel - boarding an Air New Zealand flight bound for Paris in October 2007, clutching World Cup semi final and final tickets in his sweaty little paws. Yay he was off the lead and eager to see his beloved Tous Les Noirs finally hold the cup aloft. As he was just knocking back his first glass of fizz, the captain came on and dealt the whole flight a crushing blow - the AB's had mucked it all up and had been knocked out by France in the quarter finals. It was all too late to cancel and plus he'd got a very large shopping list from me to fill - so he had to spend 3 weeks sucking up the loss in Paris. One of the only redeeming moments was a one night's stay on a chaise longue in Marianne Faithful's palatial apartment on Rue Cambon AKA the home of Chanel. Disappointingly Marianne was not there at the time as she was playing nursemaid to Mick - who was recovering from a hip reduction. But luckily that giant Helmut Newton book was in the salon - the one that's so big it comes with it's very own stool and as it turns out it was handily displayed and open at the page with her portrait on it - lucky!! It meant he could gaze at her all night and still consider himself faithful.
