Poor petal

Every spring Nigel removes the flowers of about 3,000 Agapanthus - because we both hate the ugly arse look of them. He does this in many, many shifts accompanied by foul language, ill temper and after a few days - a bad back and an almost permanent squint. Each trip up the drive is beset with concern, his beady eyes combing the denuded Aga bushes for any bold flowers with the nerve to show their disagreeable faces. This year he's taking a well earned rest and we've paid some other poor bastard to do it.

Growing impatient

A substantial queue at Kew.

Meow

We were well and truly 'had' this weekend by my beloved cousin Andy who texted to tell us that he and his wife Wendy were off to pick up a new cat. As they already have their hands full with a brace of dogs - lovingly known as 'The Fockers' we were rather impressed with their courage. Texts went back and forth - was it a kitten? No we were told - it was a full grown cat and a very big one. A lot later in the day we received a picture of the impressive feline which we're now calling 'Big Ginge'.
